Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix

We ever published “How to install Ubuntu in Flash Drive” for Asus Eee PC 1005HA netbook user. Now Ubuntu releases a new version and gives special option especially for netbook users that is “Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix“. The version can install in Flash Drive with easy procedure and support for Atom processor that mostly use in netbooks.

The instruction of Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix installation.

1. Download the “ubuntu-9.04-netbook-remix-i386.img” file from Ubuntu website. First, you choose a location and click “Begin Download”.

2. Download Disk Imager from Launchpad website.

3. Insert your Flash Drive in the netbook.

4. Note the drive letter assigned to your Flash Drive.

5. Unzip “win32diskimager-RELEASE-0.2-r23-win32.zip” file, then open “Win32DiskImager” file to start Disk Imager.

6. Select the downloaded file and target device of the Flash Drive. Then click “Write”.

7. Remove your Flash Drive when finish the process.

8. Restart your netbook, press F2 for Asus Eee PC 1005HA when machine start up to go to BIOS setup. Change the first sequence of booting device to USB Drive. Then save the change and exit.

9. Plug in Flash Drive and start up your netbook to enter Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix.

Remark:

1. This process is recommended 1 GB or larger capacity of the Flash Drive to install.
2. Ubuntu is distributed over the Internet as two types of files: CD image files, called ISOs, and flash image files, called IMGs. To install Ubuntu from Flash Drive, you first need to write the downloaded IMG image to your flash device.
