Memory upgrade on Asus Eee PC 1005HA
Asus Eee PC 1005HA provide 1 GB DDR-2 memory to work with Intel Atom N280 1.66 GHz*. But you can improve for the best performance of the netbook by upgraded memory to 2 GB. And we will bring you to memory upgrade procedure.
You must beware of compatibility before you select the memory module.
Asus Eee PC 1005HA use Intel Atom N280 processor* that has 512 K cache memory, 1.66 GHz speed and 667 MHz FSB speed. Memory module are compatible this model included SO-DIMM DDR-2 PC2-5300 200-pin 667 MHz and SO-DIMM DDR-2 PC2-6400 200-pin 800 MHz but incompatible with lower FSB speed memory module. This netbook has only one memory slot so you need to replace the new one, can not add another. And maximum memory size is upgradable to 2GB.
If you generally use Super High Performance Mode of Super Hybrid Engine, we recommend you to use SO-DIMM DDR-2 PC2-6400 200-pin 800 MHz memory module to prevent the bottleneck effect. Because FSB speed will increase when use this mode. So memory clock rate of 800 MHz is more compatible than 667 MHz.
Then, you need to prepare 1 screwdriver for using in this procedure. And you can see the memory upgrade procedure of Asus Eee PC 1005HA in the video below.
1. Turn off the power and remove the battery.
2. Put it upside down.
3. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and pull off the memory cover.
4. Push the two side brackets holding the memory in a direction away form the memory chip, one after the other. The memory chip will pop up to about 45 degrees.
5. Remove the old memory chip and replace it with the new one. Line up the groove on the chip and insert it at the same angle you take the old one out.
6. Push down on the chep from both sides so as to bring it flat on the motherboard. It will firmly click in place on both sides.
7. Put back the memory cover and the battery.

After you finished hardware installation. You have to go into BIOS for the memory to be recognized by pressing F2 during startup.
We got some information from the netbook users about new memory installation is not recognized. The user can fix this problem by updated new BIOS version 0601 on www.asus.com. Then you can use Asus Update, a utility that allow you to manage, save, and update the Eee PC BIOS in MS Windows Environment, to update the BIOS through a BIOS file and see the procedure in Asus Eee PC 1005HA User’s Manual on page 3-3.
Remark: * Intel Atom N280 provide for Asus Eee PC 1005HA-P and Intel Atom N270 provide for Asus Eee PC 1005HA-V.
** Intel Atom N270 has 512 K cache memory, 1.6 GHz speed and 533 MHz FSB speed. So memory module are compatible this model included SO-DIMM DDR-2 PC2-4200 200-pin 533 MHz, SO-DIMM DDR-2 PC2-5300 200-pin 667 MHz and SO-DIMM DDR-2 PC2-6400 200-pin 800 MHz.
